Use incrementality to make a growth dashboard more honest.
A dashboard can be perfectly accurate about attributed conversions and still be wrong about what advertising actually caused. That is why causal evidence needs a small, visible place in growth reporting.
Separate reporting questions.
Attribution answers “where was the conversion credited?” Incrementality asks “what would have happened without this activity?” They are different questions. Keep channel performance reporting, but add a decision note whenever a budget recommendation rests on evidence that is only correlational.
Choose one testable spend decision.
Do not attempt to prove everything at once. Pick a material, controllable choice: regional video investment, brand search protection or a prospecting audience. Define success before launch—incremental leads, revenue or qualified demand—and protect a comparison group where practical.
Add an evidence panel to the dashboard.
Alongside spend, CPA and ROAS, show the test period, comparison design, confidence caveat and decision status. This stops a simple chart from implying certainty it does not have. It also gives leadership a clear way to distinguish “monitor”, “scale” and “test again”.
Practical checklist
- State whether a figure is attributed or causal.
- Test one budget decision at a time.
- Lock the success metric before launch.
- Document contamination risks and exclusions.
- Make the next decision visible in the report.
Why this is current
In September 2026, Google announced broader Meridian capabilities and global availability of GeoX for causal geo-experiments. The lesson is not that every team needs a complex model; it is that growth reporting needs a route from observed performance to tested business impact.
